Pocketchangeapparel.com is now fully live. This is a project that I’m proud of for a number of reasons. The cause that it supports is one that is close to my heart, I got a chance to flex my creative muscles, and I expanded my experience in PHP development and WordPress customization.
Pocket Change Apparel is an online clothing store and half the proceeds from every sale go towards sponsoring children through Compassion Canada (a World Vision type of organization). Kristen and I have our sponsor child through Compassion, and the work they do is truly amazing. Pocket Change was founded by Jared Henriques (@JaredHenriques) and I became connected by a recomendation from a friend and past client. The discovery and design phases of this project were a ton of fun and I fiddled with several styles before settling on the final motif for the site. Once design was signed off on the real nuts and bolts had to be put together, and I employed my new best friend in WordPress cms, the power of WordPress beyond simply blog moderation is pretty amazing, and the plugin support makes it a dream to configure functionality that would normally take much longer to develope.
I’m glad to see this site finally live and poised to make a difference in the lives of children around the world.
The official launch of the website will be on May 29 when there will be a evening event at Springvale Baptist church in stouffville.
There really nothing more lovely than a computer joining two human lives.
I haven’t posted in awhile, perhaps in fear of sounding like one of the examples listed here:

Any “Social Media Experts” out there care to retort?
If you’re a freelancer it could be your home office, or if you are an in-house or agency bloke it could be your employers building, but whatever the case, what have you done to make it your own? Personally I have both a home office and a “cube” and how I treat each one is very different. When I am in the office I keep my workspace pretty vanilla, but at home is where I can have my way. Where I am stuck with the hardware I was given at work (an outdated PC running outdated software on an outdated monitor) at home I have added all of the little details that make it a pleasure to work. 24″ flatscreen monitor, 15″ Macbook Pro w/ Mighty Mouse, Harmon Cardon Soundstick Speakers (with a sub-woofer that could melt your face) and a sweet Netgear Stora 1TB home server, all of my media needs are met. The media server is accessible from any point at which you would like to connect to the network, be it xBox, PC, or Mac and adorning the wall are my degrees (but not in a “look what I earned” snooty sort of way, they’re just there). All in all a very hospitable environment from which to work. Add in my new kitten and it’s pretty much perfect.

The next step in my continuing evolution as an eMarketer will be taking place in early May. Writing the AdWords exam and getting Google AdWords certification. I could write it sooner, but right now I’m going through all of the Learning Centre materials with a fine tooth comb. I’m currently in week 3 of my 10 week plan, going through one Learning Centre chapter a week and allowing one week for review. I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t know everything about AdWords, but have been using it long enough to have a very good working knowledge. I’ve been loving learning a lot of new little things that will expand my campaigns and make them much more effective.
