I appreciate the iPhone for what it is and what it's done to stimulate the smart-phone market, but I think the openness of Android platform better positions it for development in the long term. Because of Apples name the phone has become the defacto standard (it's also an amazing product) in the smart-phone market. Right now I do think the iPhone runs more smoothly than the version of Android I have (1.6 with HTC Sense UI) but from what I've heard 2.1 closes that gap, I guess I'll know when Rogers pushes the 2.1 update this summer.
